I'm a LA based writer/filmmaker/performer who has been interested in economics since 2008. Professionally I have a nearly 20 year stretch in customer service, with about an equal amount of time learning performance skills such as improvisation. As a result most of my economic POV comes through a 'bottom-up' lens and is filtered through/informed by my training in theater, though my conclusions might be somewhat unexpected.
I am likely a poster-child for Bryan Caplan's 'signalling' model of education. I do not have a degree, but have a wide breadth of knowledge and varied experiences which seems to have made me an interesting albeit under-employed individual. Most of my formal training is in Music (my major at Montgomery College - bass guitar), and in improvisation which I have studied and/or taught since 1992. I taught myself how to play guitar (acoustic 6-string) and have written over 50 songs.
Aside from performing, I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and swimming. I love road-trips when they are affordable, and travelling in general is exciting (although I've only been overseas once). I enjoy going to movies and live theater, naturally. I grew up in the DC area, and the Smithsonian gave me an appreciation for museums. I love space technology and have a fascination with colonizing places like the Moon and Mars. This interest has developed in me a curiosity in Seasteading, mining, and materials science.
